Charlotte Airfares are falling!
Airfares are dropping fast in Charlotte.
So fast that among the nation's 100 largest airports, Charlotte's average fare declined by the biggest percentage in the past year. At the end of 2004, Charlotte's average fare was the eighth most expensive among the nation's largest airports, according to federal government statistics.
Charlotte's decrease has been sparked by a number of factors, including the arrival of low-cost carriers AirTran Airways and JetBlue Airways. US Airways also cut fares, trying to stimulate demand.
