Charlotte, North Carolina retirement living - amid the hustle and bustle of commerce - may appear at first glance to be an afterthought. But the Charlotte area has much to offer those who want to be in the urban action, but near some of the most scenic and popular resort destinations in the U.S.
Head two hours west of Charlotte and you are in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Head east for three hours and you reach the Atlantic coast with its soothing, unspoiled islands and unique history. Want to ski? Head for the hills. Want to play in the surf or deep sea fish? Head to the ocean. Want to play some of the nation's most challenging golf courses? Many are within a short drive of Charlotte.
Charlotte Douglas International Airport is served by many international and domestic airlines, and is the largest hub of US Airways . American Airlines , Air Canada , Continental , Delta , Northwest , United , AirTran and Lufthansa are some of the major carriers that serve the airport. Nonstop flights are available to many destinations across the United States, Europe, the Caribbean, Latin America and Canada.
Only minutes from Charlotte are some of the biggest lakes in North Carolina and activities are plentiful. Most residents live near the outer belt of I-485, away from the busy banking city. You can do your shopping at Carolina Place Mall and South Park Mall (to the South), Northlake Mall and Concord Mills Mall (to the North) with over 200 outlet stores. Restaurants and grocery stores are only a stone throw away from most new housing developments.
You will find downtown Charlotte vibrant with a New South spirit that can be seen throughout the streets. Whether it's the friendly, mom-and-pop diner or the magnificent performance hall, Charlotte's unique entertainment and dining options create a real sense of soul. If you enjoy classical music you might like to visit The Charlotte Symphony or see a Broadway Play at the The Blumenthal Theater. Perhaps you'd prefer to delve into the latest exhibit at the Mint Museum, the Discovery Place, or the Museum of the New South. For the sports enthusiast, we have the NFL Panthers, the Bobcats Basketball and the recently announced the NASCAR Hall of Fame. Charlotte center city is a pedestrian city with water fountains at almost every corner. Over the past several years, Charlotte's central business district has experienced both a renaissance and rejuvenation in many areas including its dining options. You'll find that an exciting mix of fine restaurants, cafes, and eateries are only a short stroll from any point in the center city. Regardless, the choices are many, and each adds its own vitality to this exciting and ever-changing city!
Sunny days in Charlotte far outnumber cloudy or rainy days. You'll usually see crowds of people during lunchtime enjoying the glorious weather at outdoor cafes or the nearly 100 park benches scattered along Tryon Street. During spring, Center City Charlotte becomes a showplace of blooming Bradford Pear trees, dogwoods, azaleas, tulips and daffodils. Even during the coldest months of January and February, Charlotte stays in bloom with delicate, yet hardy pansies.
The University of North Carolina-Charlotte or Central Piedmont Community College both offer tuition-free classes for mature adults. And many area attractions offer reduced rates. The Charlotte atmosphere is business, business and more business and those wanting to continue to work full or part-time should find no problem latching onto a position in Charlotte. Those with entrepreneurial aspirations will also find Charlotte as one of the most open-minded markets in America.
Those simply wanting to relax, soak up the local culture, live in a moderate climate and perhaps do some traveling will find Charlotte to be a wonderful East Coast base. The Carolinas are so diverse and historic and Charlotte is at the center of both Carolinas. While Charlotte is a city on the move, economically, there are plenty of opportunities for retirees to find fun and fulfillment.

Dear Angie,
Hoping you and your family are well and enjoying this beautiful weather.
We just had to let you know our house hunting and finally buying our house have been a surprisingly stress free experience due to you.
We came from Pennsylvania with the expectation that we would be stressed to the breaking point, because we had over the years bought a condo and two previous homes and all three times were very stressful. You made this buying of our home so very easy and smooth. You were always available to represent us when we were unable to travel from Pennsylvania to North Carolina and always did everything in our best interest. You also spent many hours of your time to show us the city of Charlotte, the Shopping's centers, Malls and Restaurants and even the nearest Hospitals and other points of interest.
We encourage you to feel free to use our names, for you represent the highest quality of professionalism in a "Buyers Representative".
"YOU ARE THE VERY BEST"
Sincerely,
Sheila V. Ferguson
